Robert Pires has threatened to quit Arsenal this summer if the Gunners board do not give boss Arsene Wenger the funds to to bring in big-name players.
Pires is concerned that Arsenal's failing title challenge shows they lack strength in depth and struggle when Patrick Vieira and Sol Campbell are unavailable.
And he will question the club's ambition in showdown talks at the end of the season.
And though the French international midfielder insists he is happy at Highbury, the Valencia target hinted he may leave.
"I will discuss my future at the end of the season," he told the Mirror. "I would like to stay at Arsenal, but I want to know what the club's ambitions are for now and for the seasons to come.
"Our runs in the Champions League and at the end of the season have shown that we need to bring in reinforcements. The end of the season looks like being difficult without Patrick and Sol Campbell.
"If we don't win the title, we will only have ourselves to blame."
Pires believes Arsenal should have had enough strength in depth to allow Vieira to rest his injured knee in the title run-in.
"Patrick tooks risks for two months for the good of the club, playing with his injured knee. It was a magnificent future on his part, but one that a club such as Arsenal ought to have been able to prevent," he added.
