| Soccer AM's All Sports Show |
| 6pm, Friday Sky Sports |
You may think you know Andy Goldstein, co-presenter of Soccer AM's All Sports Show, but here he reveals his greatest sporting achievements and his tips for 2007.
What are your sporting achievements?
Mine are mainly in snooker and pool. I was the Barking and district champion pool champion in 1991. I also used to play the game of English pool professionally and was ranked number 32 in Britain. I was a Super League champion as well.
When I was in the cubs I also won the egg heads quiz too – that was a proud day.
Most embarrassing sporting moment?
Five minutes after being awarded my egg heads trophy, I dropped it and it smashed into a million pieces.
Favourite sportsmen of all time?
The legend that is Jimmy White.
Sporting person you love to hate?
Well I don't hate anyone to be fair, but anyone who beats Jimmy White.
What sports would you like to see more of on TV?
Spoofing would be good. I am a big fan of the spoof, it settles all arguments. World conker championships would be interesting too.
If you had to be any sportsperson who would it be and why?
Rocky Marciano. A heavyweight boxer, never got beat. Was in great shape and a good looking lad. Although he is dead, so there is a downside to being him.
Hardest person to beat in sport?
Toughest to beat? I would say Roger Federer. pound for pound he must be the most difficult player to beat. He is probably the best tennis player to have ever picked up a racquet. He is something else. But saying that, if you lose against him, it is only your pride. when you are a boxer well you get hurt when you lose. I think I would rather lose my pride than my my eyesight in one eye.
Any famous sporting friends?
I hate these questions, they make you sound a bit precious. Jimmy Tarbuck from golf. I met Brian Jackson at McDonalds when I was about eight.
I also went around to Paul Miller's house in 1982 on Christmas Day, so I would class him as a close friend.
Which sport could you not be paid to go and watch?
Well I love all sports and think I would give anything a go. You would probably HAVE to pay me to go and watch the boat race.
Got any superstitions or rituals before you go on air?
I always have my earpiece on before my mic and I always, always make sure I have some clothes on. I do have a lucky pair of pants - blue Calvin Klein's boxers. If I am doing a show I have not done before, then I will wear them. Too much information?
What makes the All Sport show so special?
You don't have to be a sports fan to watch it as it is an entertainment show as well. I would like to believe that the hour wizzes by and Helen is on it. It is always good to see a good looking blonde on Friday night.
Any sporting tips for us in 2007?
Watch out for Jedd Trump who is coming through the ranks in snooker. He is only 17, but is very tasty and is meant to be the next big thing, so keep your eye on him.
I think United are going to do the treble and David Beckham will return to England starting XI. But if he signs for an American club, well he can kiss his England career goodbye.
What will you be doing sporting wise in 2007?
More spoofing of course. I would also like to play in the World Pool Masters. I have played a few of the Americans on the practice table when I was doing the Mosconi Cup and I beat a few of them. So I fancy my chances of going quite far.
