Arsenal took a vice-like grip on the Premiership title race at Maine Road this afternoon as Arsene Wenger declared: "We're not interested in Manchester United."
The Gunners hit Manchester City with an early four-goal blitz before eventually romping to a 5-1 win which extends their Premiership lead to five points over Sir Alex Ferguson's men.
However, Wenger insisted United's last-gasp draw at Bolton had played no part in his team's whirlwind start. In fact, nobody had even asked the result.
"We were not interested in what Manchester United did - nobody even asked," said Wenger, who confirmed that injured duo David Seaman and Ashley Cole should both be fit for Wednesday's Champions League trip to Ajax.
"We just want to keep extending our lead and the only way to do that is by winning games, not speculate on other results, and we got what we wanted.
"It is up to us to keep performing now, everything is in our hands."
While Wenger would not be drawn into declaring the title race is all but over, it is difficult to see Arsenal dropping enough points to allow either United or Newcastle back into the title picture.
