William Gallas looks set to be part of Chelsea's long-term future after signing a one-year extension to his contract, tying him to the Blues until 2007.

The French defender already had three years remaining on his previous deal but has further committed himself to the club he joined from Marseille two years ago.

Gallas has not travelled with the rest of the Chelsea squad to for the FA Premiership Asia Cup, having been excused the trip because he played for his country in the Confederations Cup earlier this summer.
