Arsenal misfit Kanu has been offered a staggering golden handshake of £1million to leave Highbury.
The Nigerian playmaker failed to make an impression last season and the London club are so desperate to off-load his high wage bill that they have made their six-figure offer.
Kanu, who still has two years left on his contract and currently earns £42,000 a week, made just one Premiership start last season when the destination of the title had already been decided.
It was thought that Kanu would depart Highbury last year after an extended spell on the substitutes bench but he decided to stay and fight for his place.
But with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger looking for fresh faces at the club in a bid to prize the league title away from Old Trafford, it appears that Kanu's days are finally numbered.
Kanu, who signed from Inter Milan in 1999 for £4.5million, negotiated terms at the height of the transfer market.
Arsenal have been linked with Leeds duo Harry Kewell and Paul Robinson and issued disappointing six-month financial reports - blaming problems with their proposed move to a new stadium.
