Sky Sports News EXCLUSIVE
World Cup-winning goalkeeper Marcos will not sign for Arsenal before the end of the season.
The Palmeiras man claimed he was on his way to Highbury, finally ending Arsene Wenger's search for a back-up to David Seaman.
But although he confirmed he has been in talks with the South American club, the Gunners boss revealed that the move would not happen before the end of the season - and may yet be scrapped altogether.
Wenger told Sky Sports News: "He will not join us for the moment and a decision will be made in May or June for next season, so at the moment, I am still looking for a keeper.
"He will certainly not be here before the end of the season and as for next season, no decision has been made. Again, we will evaluate the situation in May.
"We continue to have talks with Palmeiras but I cannot say much more about that right now."
It means Stuart Taylor is the only recognised understudy to 39-year-old Seaman.
