Former England captain Mike Atherton joined the Sky Sports cricket commentary team in the summer of 2006. He writes about England here on skysports.com.

As Sky Sports secured the rights for England's home Test series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan in 2006, adding to more than a decade of broadcasting England on tour from abroad, the cricket team moved quickly to secure the services of long-serving skipper Atherton.

The Cambridge University and Lancashire opener played in 115 Test matches for England, captaining his country on 54 occasions, the first of which came against the Australians in the 1993 Ashes, when only 25 years of age.

He scored 7728 runs at an average of 37.69 in Test cricket, going past 100 on 16 occasions and making no less than 46 half centuries.

After every England Test match Atherton will use all of that experience to review each game here on skysports.com.
