A signing to show that Chelsea has become a major force in European Football and that the Premier League is becoming more attractive for players to compete in.
Chelsea for the CL next season?
Matt, Surrey, UK
Reginald Amonoo, lincolnBeing a Chelsea fan, I am thrilled for the signing of Shevchenko. I have been a Chelsea supporter all my life and know how desperate Chelsea have been for a striker capable of 20-25 league goals a season. And for the first time in my life, I feel that striker has arrived. This is also a great signing for the Premier League as it shows players of Shevchenko's ability are attracted by the Premiership. With Shevchenko's signing, I really think Chelsea have the team to really battle it out with the more elite clubs in Europe. Should be an interesting campaign in the Champions League next year.
Tom, GravesendA fantastic piece of news!! This is the final piece of the Stamford Bridge revolution. Shevchenko is the piece of the jigsaw that Chelsea and Mourinho have been crying out for ..... a 25 goal per season goal machine! Cmon The Blues!!
Mark Hepburn, KirkcaldyAs a Man Utd fan I am worried that Chelsea would become the best in the world with Shevchenko. But hopefully they will not rule The Premiership. I want it to a close title race next season but hopefully Man Utd will win it.
Shivraj Khaira, LeicesterWell this is great news not just for the champions Chelsea but also The Premiership as a whole, this along with Ballack and Henry signing up makes the best League in the world even better!
Richard Gill, NottinghamI think Shevchenko's arrival is a big blow for Serie A giants Milan as they have proved to be an established team in Europe. Chelsea should be thrilled to have signed such a great striker, a knockout for Serie A, but a plus for the Premier League that seems to go from strength to strength.
Farhan , RomfordI think this signing is the one which will put Chelsea up there with Barcelona now, they have the goalscorer they have been crying out for over the past few seasons. Sheva will come and give you goals that is a guarantee, Chelsea for everything next season!!!!
Christopher Burns, SaltcoatsI am a Liverpool supporter but I think it is great that such a player has joined The Premiership. It is an honour that one of the greatest players in the world is a Premiership player. Also I think that he will be the top goalscorer this season with 28 goals.
Sam Ellett, liverpoolI think the signing of Schevchenko is a brilliant signing. He will provide the solution to an age old Chelsea problem...a striker who will bag 25 goals a season. Bring on the Tottenham or the Arsenal cos they aren't gonna stand a chance!!!!
Thomas Coupland, SevenoaksHaving Shevchenko playing alongside Drogba is a formidable partnership in the making but it means a change in formation in the midfield as we don't normally play with 2 up front. Makelele, Lampard, Ballack, Essien. What do we do with the wingers Duff, Robben, Wright-Phillips, Cole?
Warren Munn, ReadingAt 30-years-old (or almost) I think the price is a bit steep but there is no arguing the fact that the man is one of the most prolific strikers in Europe and proven at the very highest level.......much as it pains me to say it!! Still - he isn't a patch on Henry!
Mark Kelly, Glassdrumman, IrelandA very good buy cos he's one of the best strikers in the world.....but......unless Chelsea manage to get the rules changed to allow 22 players on the field, I can see him playing one week and sitting on the bench the next. Thank God for players like Henry, Gerrard and a few others who are a dying breed of players for whom loyalty means something.
