What a fantastic cup final. As a football fan and a Liverpool fan I was on the edge of my seat. West Ham players, staff and supporters can all take a bow, they were outstanding. It was a fiting end of season game and a wonderful advert for soccer. Well done to both teams.
Marion Whearty, Dublin

This was a great game. I am not a fan of either of the teams but I enjoyed it. My heart goes to West Ham, but they have themselves to blame, they thought the game was won. Steven Gerrard for captain of England.
Kwadwo Agyepong, Texas, USA

Gerrard is God! The FA Cup final was amazing, one of the best yet in modern day football. Steve's the best midfielder in the world. The ultimate role model and should be the England captain.
Ash Redding, Preston

I loved every minute of it. I was supporting West Ham, as my cousin works for them, and my heart was up and down for a good three hours. I really think that the FA need to sit down, watch this tape and see why it is completely unfair to settle the FA Cup final, or any final for that matter, on penalties.
Robin Johnson, Manchester

This is exactly why I love Liverpool. It's a always a roller coaster ride! They never done it the easy way! It's alway got to be dramatic!!! And tonight, the difference between the two finalist is two words: STEVEN and GERRARD. He's just fantastic!
Grace C, Jakarta, Indonesia

Credit to the fans today, they were superb. Today was the most exciting FA Cup final I have ever seen. A few errors at the back today but Liverpool showed fantastic strength of character to come back. West Ham played out of their skins today and have had a fantastic season, but, something tells me that the dark days are long gone. Liverpool for the Title!!!!!!!
Antony Leach, Cardiff

What a match, Liverpool are the comeback kings. Bring on The Premiership, Chelsea are scared.
Zulfikar Bhaloo, Zanzibar - Tanzania

Game of the season by far. No team deserved to lose that match. But as a Liverpool fan, I'm so happy that Liverpool won it. Take a bow Steven Gerrard
Rhodri Morgans, Aberystwyth

Another classic that proves we are the comeback kings, not to forget that it was both teams demonstrating the beautiful game at its best.
Waseem Ashraf, Huddersfield

I am a Liverpool supporter and I am over the moon about the win but West Ham were excellent today they made the cup final special.
Dave Giove, Essex

What a cracka! The game was so electric from the first to final whistle. I am a Chelsea fan, but even I could feel the emotion, and was on the edge of my seat the entire game. If only liverpool could perform like this on a consistent basis they would be, hands down, the best team in the world.
Tom McLoughlin, Randolph

What a match, what a final, that must be the best FA Cup final ever. Gerrard is the best player in the world, he should be captain of England. Hope you are reading Sven and McClaren!
Sam, Wembley

What a day for Liverpool fans. We've proved once again that Liverpool has the biggest hearts of any football team in the world. The belief in themselves and their manager carries them through! Steven Gerrard is becoming a legend in his own time!
Linda Mitman, Phoenix Arizona, USA

What a match!!! Best FA Cup final ever. West Ham did get a bit lucky with all three of their goals but Steven Gerrard made sure that it wouldn't finish with a lucky goal! He scored a screamer. Take a bow son.
Rhodri Morgans, Aberystwyth

One word to describe Gerrard...legend! Bring on the World Cup!!
Dan Wise, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk

I am still amazed at today's match! It is the best English cup final I have ever seen! It is only beaten by Liverpool's amazing Champions League final! Gerrard proved today that he is different class.
Lee Dalgleish, Newcastle upon Tyne

Not just a great match, it's the best FA Cup final I've ever seen. Reds for Premiership title next year
Oliver Martindale, Havant

That was by far the best cup final I have ever seen. I am a Man Utd supporter and I hate Liverpool but Gerrard proved why he is the best midfielder in England. Unlucky for West Ham though, they played brilliantly.
Harpreet, Southall

It was a simply amazing football match, and a case could easily be made for either team deserving to win it. To Liverpool's credit, they never gave up and kept their heads up, and got some well deserved goals, even though they were particularly poor at the back at times. One has to feel sorry for the West Ham fans, they were fantastic all day, and to see your team lose after being 3 minutes from winning it must be crestfalling.
Paul Hyland, Liverpool

As a Liverpool fan im absoluetly delighted with the result, we don't like to do anything easily do we? Well played to West Ham, Alan Pardew and their fans who I thought were absolutely tremendous today. Bring on the title, Chelsea beware!!
Nick Callaghan, Liverpool

Have to say it was best game of football I've seen for a while. Full credit to West Ham as they gave their all and were unlucky on the day but I felt Liverpool had the experience to go and win on penalties.
Sean, Washington

An amazing season capped off with a truly epic final. Plenty of records created and broken in this season alone, Benitez seems to have found the consistency and the right amount of flair in the team. Heroes tonight and who knows what will happen next season.
Umair Javed, Lahore

Full credit to West Ham for a gutsy performance against a resilient team like Liverpool with their "never say die" attitude. Once again the difference was that man, Stevie G, undoubtably the finest midfielder in the world!!
Kevin Draper, Johannesburg

Wow!! What a match! This was typical English football shown today. Pride and the never say die attitude!! Liverpool are back!
Danny Ocean, Birmingham

As a Liverpool supporter I am making a plea... for the next final boys, win a little easier. I think you will notice some on the Kop will have heart problems if you keep this up!
Jeffrey Mitchell, Barnesville, USA

This was a fantastic cup final. Although I am a Liverpool supporter neither team deserved to lose. They all gave 110 percent but in the end Steven Gerrard proved his worth to his club and hopefully his country in the World Cup.
Alan Lamb, Crook

I thought this was the best game I have watched on television in my forty years of existence. What a game, nail biting from the first goal to the last penalty miss by Ferdinand. West Ham had this in the bag on so many occasions but once again the man that is Liverpool, Steven Gerrad, pulls off what has to be one the best life saving goals of all time. At the end there were some tired legs all round out there and all though great credit goes to West Ham, Liverpool showed why they were European champions last year.
Richard, London

What an amazing match! Well played West Ham. I think this is a clear message to Chelsea and their hopes of retaining the title next year. I pity the team that underestimates Liverpool, or their league title bid next year!
Simon Lewis, Huddersfield

Brill Match. Really shows what English football is about. Both supporters were great, ref was great, and players were great. Well done.
Gareth Brown, Manchester

Been to the pub with my son a 7-year-old football fanatic. We have had so many highs and lows today. But a great game as I am a Liverpool fan! But I wouldn't have it any other way to watch Liverpool pick up that cup.
Leonie & Nathan Gallagher, Warrington

Why are all Liverpool finals exciting? They have truly shaken off their usual tag of "boring". I am a Spurs fan but a can honestly say two of the greatest matches I have seen have been 3-3 draws involving Liverpool. Who needs Rooney in the World Cup when we've got someone who can strike a ball as brilliantly as Gerrard.
Joe Harmer, hastings
