No one can begrudge Alan Curbishley deciding to leave Charlton at the end of the season after the magnificent service he's given them. One can reasonably assume he's onto pastures new...England maybe?.... or Newcastle?....or something unexpected?...we'll know soon enough. Wherever he goes they'll be lucky to have him. Whoever takes over the job at Charlton, they'll be lucky as well. If there's an example of loyalty by a club to a person they consider is right for them then Charlton are a beacon of an example of how to do this at the highest level. Good luck to all concerned in the future as man and club start on new periods in their career and progression respectively.

In this day and age of hiring and firing of managers in football, Alan's time at Charlton has been nothing short of a miracle. He has taken Charlton from an average club to the top flight of The Premiership and kept them there. However he feels it's time to move on. I feel is not ready for the England job, nor does he want. I think the start of next season we will see him as manager of Birmingham City. He is an ex player and has managed them before. It would be a perfect move for him and Birmingham.

This man is a hero at Charlton and always will be. Just look where he has got us to, the man is a legend. I feel that it's right for him to leave at this time though. He may not be leaving on a high but he's only going out in the true Charlton Athletic way.

All hail to the man Curbishley. When he started we were still without a home, playing mediocre Division Two (as it was then) football with a small fan base. He leaves CAFC with us an established Premiership club, with not one relegation battle in the 6 years since we last got promoted as Div One Champions. He's done an amazing job on a small budget and will go down as a legend at Charlton. Whoever follows him has a hard act to follow. Good luck Curbs in whatever you do.

What he's done for us has been amazing. He's made Charlton a well respected Premiership club. Him leaving had to happen some time and I wish him all the best for the future.
